Toward a better environment
Audi is committed to reducing the environmental impact of vehicle service. Through careful sourcing and recycling, we work continually to reduce waste and advance procedures that can help make the world a better place.
Battery recycling
The acid test
Traditional car batteries contain high levels of sulfuric acid and lead, both of which are extremely toxic. But for every Audi Genuine Battery we install, we recycle another - more than 45,000 last year. The polypropylene cases are melted down and recast. The lead is fired and forged into new battery plates. The acid is either converted to sodium sulfate for detergents or neutralized.
Tire recycling
One road ends. Another begins.
For decades, tire disposal was synonymous with air pollution, soil and water contamination, and overflowing landfills. But last year, Audi of America collected more than 35,000 tires for recycling, most of which were re-purposed into mulch for playgrounds, crumb rubber for rubberized asphalt, and tire-derived fuel.
Oil Recycling
Pumping new life into the process
To help mitigate the environmental impacts associated with oil, Audi recommends Castrol EDGE Professional OE, a carbon-neutral synthetic oil used in most of its service centers. Audi service centers also collect waste oil for recycling- more than 1.1 million gallons last year, or enough to power the average home for 1,500 years.
